GOP WATCH VA05: New Source of Information for the 5th District

GOPWatchVA05 is an independent volunteer-run project which shares reliably-sourced information, key messages, and resources related to the impacts of GOP actions across Virginia’s Fifth Congressional District(VA05). We focus on getting the solid facts out about big issues that affect all of us who make VA05 our home.

This toolkit is a work in progress: new information and material will be added as the November midterm approaches.

We hope these tools will be useful to those of us who are out there talking with family, friends, and neighbors in our communities, writing letters to the editors of our local papers, asking questions at public events, posting on social media, making signs, flyers, and ads, and organizing consistent messages for phone banking and canvassing.

Let's work together to Flip the Fifth on November 6, 2018!

New Polling Tool: Political Atlas

The University of Virginia Center for Politics rolled out a brand new polling tool in conjunction with Reuters IPSOS Polling.

The new website “Political Atlas” was unveiled on Tuesday at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

UVA Center for Politics director Larry Sabato called the new tool the most comprehensive in the country. The system combines Sabato’s crystal ball, political science polls, 20 new IPSOS polls, and social media footprints.

The new site was inspired by the failure of numerous polls to correctly predict the 2016 election.

“Polling used to be more reliable than it is now at least in some key battle ground states,” Sabato said. “2016 proved that to us and everybody in the political field had become lax. We were relaying on polls and a lot of polls, tons of polls except polling averages can’t save you when you’re polling model is wrong.”

Sabato said the site is updated daily with new data. Click here to see the new site
