NOW: Fill out and return an Application to Vote by Mail. A Vote by Mail application is a request to receive an Absentee Ballot. The application has been simplified for this year's election. Applications are available at the Registrar's office or you can download the form and instructions here. (Please note: Voting by Mail and Absentee Ballot Voting are the same thing, although an Absentee Ballot may also be hand delivered to the Registrar , emailed, or faxed if you prefer not to mail it in.)
August 17-20: Democratic National Convention, Milwaukee, WI
September 18 - October 31st (Mon-Fri) and Saturday October 24th:
Early Voting in Person at the Registrar's Office or any Satellite Voting Location
September 18: Absentee Ballots can begin to be turned in personally or mailed in. If an Absentee Ballot is received in the Registrar's Office by 5pm on Election Day (November 3rd) it will be counted. (Note: not postmarked by then but RECEIVED in that office.)
October 13: Last Day to Register to Vote for Nov. 3rd Election. An application to Register to vote can be obtained at the Registrar's office or downloaded here.
October 23, 2020: Last day to request that the Registrar's Office mail an Absentee Ballot to you
November 3, 2020: General Election for President and Congress
(Election Day is now a Federal Holiday in Virginia)
We are encouraging everyone to register early (now) and vote early, to ensure your forms get to the Registrar on time and that your ballot is counted, especially if you plan on Absentee Voting by Mail. Forms and processes have been simplified for the 2020 Election, so take the plunge and prepare to VOTE and make your voice heard!
If you're already registered, it's very important to check that your voter registration status is ACTIVE!

You can vote early at your local registrar’s office beginning Sept. 18 and ending Oct. 31. To check that you are registered to vote, click here. To find the location and hours for early voting in your county, call your local registrar’s office, click here. You do not have to have a reason or fill out an application to vote early. You will need to show an acceptable form of ID or sign an ID Confirmation Statement. To view a complete list of acceptable IDs, click here. Accessible equipment and/or curbside voting is available upon request.
